Wedding cakes are a Western tradition. The tradition of the newly married couple standing hand in hand and cutting the cake together is a symbol of unity that remains popular in today’s weddings.

There are no set rules regarding the flavor of the cake. Chocolate, with chocolate icing is popular today but there are many other options; fruit cake, sponge cake, ice cream cake, cream filled cakes, cheesecake… Providing a a variety of flavors for your guests has also become popular. If you have a favorite cake, any experienced pastry chef should be able to decorate it to your liking. Be sure and do some taste testing if at all possible!

It is recommended to have the cake delivered and set up. This will alleviate some of the stress of the day. The cake is a very valuable aspect of the wedding and is best handled by someone with experience!
